“Chaz Lanier is the person you want every student-athlete to develop into physically, mentally and internally. Chaz has a huge target on his back nightly being thrown into shoes that he’s never worn before, and he has handled it exceptionally well,” Coach Matthew Driscoll

College Career

Chaz Lanier, a 6’4″ guard from Nashville, Tennessee, is a University of Tennessee alumnus who concluded his college career as one of the top shooters in program history. After transferring from North Florida—where he was the leading scorer and an All-ASUN honoree—Lanier made an immediate impact for the Vols, averaging 18 points per game and setting a new single-season school record for three-pointers made.

He earned First Team All-SEC honors, was named SEC Newcomer of the Year, and received national recognition as a Jerry West Award finalist and Third Team All-American. Known for his elite shooting and clutch performances, Lanier helped lead Tennessee to a deep NCAA Tournament run before being selected 37th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.

"Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful."
- John Wooden
