Junior guard Chaz Lanier exploded for a career-high 33 points to lead his North Florida Ospreys past the Bellarmine Knights on the road. Lanier was dominant on the offensive end all night, shooting an efficient 11-18 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. He scored from all over the court against the home crowd.
With his parents, both former collegiate basketball players, cheering him on, Lanier simply could not be stopped against Bellarmine’s defense. He led the Ospreys in scoring by a wide margin and set a new career-high in the process. Lanier scored 20+ points for a fourth straight game and 30+ for a second time in the season and career. Thanks to his standout season, Lanier was named ASUN Player of the Week last week, his second such honor this year.
Lanier’s 33 points propelled North Florida to another big conference road victory. The business management major has always had a scoring prowess, averaging over 10 points per game this season. If last night was any indication, Lanier is poised to become the Ospreys’ undisputed go-to option on offense as they make a push in ASUN play. The junior guard put the rest of the league on notice with his dazzling performance.
